Properties of Exponents Hidden Message Activity

Students will be solving 20 problems on the properties of exponents. After solving the problems, students will cut out the boxes and glue them onto the other page according to their solution. This is a great activity that can be given individually or in groups of 2-4. In addition, it is self-assessing in two ways: (1) students know that if they don't see their solution on the page then they need to check their answer and (2) after placing their boxes down, there is a hidden message. If they do not see the message, then they know that they made a mistake. This activity can take 1-2 days (1 day if you are on block schedule and 2 days if you are not on block schedule).
Check out my BUNDLE that includes all of my hidden message activities.

Simple Interest Activity (Buying a Car)

Students will LOVE this activity!!! Students are going to determine the cost of buying a car. Students will calculate the interest and balance of 3 cars. They will be given information on 2 banks. Students will decide which car they want to purchase and choose the bank that gives them the best deal.

After students determine which car they want to purchase, they will need to calculate the monthly payment and write a check to the car dealership. Lastly, students will fill out a used car contract.

The homework is super easy to grade and I love that it is not a super long homework assignment. As a parent myself, my children are given homework from multiple classes. Along with their extracurricular activities, it makes it difficult when my children have homework from each class requiring more than an hour. Hence, I have simplified my homework so that students can demonstrate their knowledge of the math concept without taking a long time completing the homework.
